Step One: Take out the phone jack at one end. There are several different types of jacks, but this project uses a standard RJ11 four-wire telephone cord plug used in North America and Japan for telephones. You can take it apart with your hands or use pliers if necessary! Don’t worry about damaging it because you won’t be using either part again. If desired, remove any screws from the case to make sure everything will fit back together later on.

Step Two: Cut off half of the plastic casing around where you removed the wire connector in step one so that just two wires remain inside – this is especially important when working with copper wiring instead of silver (it’s more flexible). Be careful not to cut into the wire itself!

Step Three: At one end of your phone cord, you should have a small piece of metal with two prongs sticking out from it. This is where we’ll be attaching our needles in order to make a homemade tattoo gun. With pliers or scissors, cut off the outside casing around this metal piece so that only a tiny bit remains at each side – take care not to remove any pieces from inside because they’re important for later on. Then carefully bend down the two sharp prongs until they’re flat against the metal strip and line up perfectly together (this may require some trial and error). Once everything fits properly, tape them securely into place using electrical tape or simply twist them tightly together if needed instead.

Step Four: Attach your needle – you can use either a sewing or hand-sewing needle, but it’s important to be extra careful if using the latter because they’re much smaller. If needed, cut off any plastic casing around where this will attach so that only two small metal pieces remain (just like in step three). Then secure the needle by taping over its body with electrical tape until there are no exposed sharp edges and take care not to damage the wire itself. Be sure everything fits tightly into place before moving on!

Step Five: With your needle secured in place, wrap the phone cord around a pencil with rubber bands (one at the base and one on top of it for added support). The more times you do this, however, will determine how hard or soft your homemade tattoo gun is. If using a sewing kit’s needle instead of a standard household item, then only use two rubber bands to avoid damaging it. Be sure not to tie them too tightly because you don’t want the wire from inside being pressed against each other!

Step Six: Once wrapped properly around your pencil so that there are no sharp edges exposed on either side – carefully release it without moving anything else apart from where they attach together. Then slowly begin tying knots between all the rubber bands (one at the base and one on top) until it’s tightly wrapped around. You can also attach your needle directly into this without taping over its body by simply pushing it through all the layers of wire so that only a small bit is exposed for you to grip onto with pliers or something similar.

Step Seven: Secure everything together using electrical tape, making sure there are no loose ends poking out anywhere – especially where they attach to each other! Then carefully cut off any remaining pieces of plastic casing if previously removed in order to give yourself an easier time during step eight. Once done, flip everything upside down and secure both sides individually inside either end of an old pen cap before them back together again – use as many rubber bands as necessary to avoid anything moving around.

Step Eight: Secure the cap on top of the pencil tightly with electrical tape (this prevents it from breaking during use). Then carefully cut off any plastic casing inside where you’ll be pushing down in order to make your homemade tattoo gun work – this is important because they can cause serious damage if pushed too hard without enough support! If using a sewing needle, then only remove small bits at each end until there are no sharp edges left, and take care not to push them out either when done. If using an old phone cord instead which has already been stripped, then simply strip back another centimeter or two until nothing remains poking out anywhere so that your needle will fit directly into its wire body (this will make it much easier to grip onto during use).

Step Nine: From here, you should have everything ready for making your homemade tattoo gun! Now all you need is some practice. To do this safely and avoid injury, tie one end of the phone cord tightly around a pencil or something similar that’s heavy enough so that pushing down on anything sharp won’t cause any damage (you can also tape over its entire body with electrical tape if needed but be sure not to cover up the small bit inside where it attaches together)! Then slowly begin placing each needle into their respective holes by pushing them through from underneath before pulling back out again – remember not to push too hard either because they’re very easy to break otherwise! You may want to practice with a few different needles to see how they work before moving on.

Step Ten: When ready, carefully place your needle down onto a piece of paper or something else you don’t mind having some holes in. This is where the real fun begins! Start off slow and find out how much pressure it takes to push it through before going any further – also take note as to which side has more force being applied so that you can adjust accordingly later on if needed. Once done, lift up the phone cord without moving anything but its end (except for where they attach together) and make sure there are no sharp points poking out anywhere at all – especially around the pencil because this could cause serious injury otherwise! If using an old sewing kit’s needle instead of a household item like I’ve discussed earlier, then simply remove the entire metal bar and attach it into place before tying your phone cord around one end just like you would with a needle (use as many rubber bands for this as necessary so there’s no chance of anything breaking).

Step Eleven: Place down your homemade tattoo gun onto whatever surface you’ll be using on someone else. The key here is to make sure everything can move back and forth without any problems at all – including where they both connect together! If nothing moves, then try adding some more rubber bands until something does because otherwise, it won’t work properly. Then carefully wrap the rest of its body tightly in electrical tape or even medical wraps if needed but remember not to cover up too much other than that which will actually touch their skin during use. You can also do the same with where it connects to a pencil or sewing kit, but make sure you don’t cover up its entire body as this will be needed for grip later on – just enough so that nothing inside gets stuck together again!

Step Twelve: Last but not least, grab yourself some good quality ink and find out how much they’ll need before starting! If using tattoo pens instead of needles (which are very similar), then simply remove all their color rings first by twisting them off gently until none remain poking into anything else. Once done, place your homemade tattoo gun down onto whatever surface is being used against someone’s skin while holding it firmly in place at one end. Then carefully attach your pen over top somewhere nearby so that it can then be used during the process without any issues. The last thing you need is for your ink to dry up while working on someone else (this also saves time because changing between colors will only take seconds instead of minutes).

Step Thirteen: Take a deep breath and relax! It’s now time to start making some tattoos, so carefully place down their clean area onto where they’re desired before holding everything in place with one hand firmly against them – but make sure there are no sharp edges poking out anywhere other than directly through their skin or this could cause serious injury because these needles are very easy to break otherwise! Instead of pushing straight into someone’s body like what you might’ve seen done by machines using electricity, gently roll the pencil’s tip or sewing kit needle back and forth across their skin while applying very light pressure. This is how you slowly push it through without causing any further pain – plus the chance of accidentally poking anything out underneath will be greatly reduced by doing this as well!

Step Fourteen: Once done, carefully place your homemade tattoo gun down against something else (without moving its end) before removing yourself from them once again. Next up comes wiping off some excess ink that we might’ve missed earlier on because otherwise, they’re going to get a lot more than what was intended which can cause issues later on when trying to remove everything for good if needed. When ready, carefully wipe away every part of their clean area with either an alcohol pad or even some rubbing alcohol until all excess ink has been removed.

Step Fifteen: Finally, simply wait for your homemade tattoo gun to dry off before carefully removing everything from their skin and cleaning it with some mild soap if needed afterward too! Afterward, you can store this away somewhere safe or even give it as a gift just like someone might do after receiving one done by professionals – but remember that they’re also very easy to use which means anyone could easily learn them without any issues within minutes of practicing on an actual person instead of trying out on paper first (which is why I highly recommend giving these away). Keep in mind that you’ll need several needles/pencils for each color because otherwise changing between them will waste time during the process, so always have at least two of each on hand before you start.

As for the tattoo gun itself, you can place that down against any surface (whether it’s a piece of wood or something else) and secure everything with either some strong tape if needed.

Step Sixteen: Finally, make sure you always use one hand to hold onto their skin during use while using your other free hand to control the pencil/sewing kit – this is why we removed all its color rings beforehand because they’re very sharp otherwise!

Step Seventeen: Once done, simply remove yourself from them before carefully removing everything that you’ve just applied to their skin! If there are any spots left behind or if they’re not ready yet then try waiting a little longer – but remember to wipe it clean with some soap afterward because otherwise the ink will stay on too long and become hard for anyone else to see. When finished, either let your homemade tattoo gun dry off completely or even use rubbing alcohol instead of water so that everything comes out easier later when trying to wash away after using this tip at least five times in order to properly cover all parts without any errors being made along the way.

As an alternative option, you can also attach a small needle onto one end of a pencil and secure it with some strong tape instead of using a sewing kit. When this is done, push the needle through whatever you’re attaching to just like before until it’s all gone inside their skin without breaking – but remember that they will still be able to feel something there which means we need another step afterward.

Concluding, this tattoo machine is a great project to do with your kids. It’s an excellent way for them to get creative and have fun while being more hands-on in their learning process of how tattoos are done. All you need is the household items listed above along with some patience and time!
